Edmonston Flash Flooding Updates

posted in: Edmonston News, Services | 0

Dear Edmonston Residents,

2020 continues to be a year of unprecedented challenges. Our recent flash flood event has been devastating for our residents and their families. We are working diligently with the County to seek assistance and to ensure that all the proper procedures were followed with activating the Edmonston Pumping Station owned and maintained by Prince George’s County.

If you had damage to your home or vehicle, please contact Town Hall with your name, address and phone number so that we can track the total damages to report to Prince George’s County. We are in contact with Prince George’s County Emergency Management office and will receive a briefing next week. We will relay any helpful information to you as it becomes available.

We have requested all records and information from Prince George’s County Public Works concerning the operation of the Pumping Station. We will review them and provide a report via constant contact, Facebook and the website. Please provide an email address for any updates by contacting Town Hall at townhall@edmonstonmd.gov

In the meantime, you MUST contact your homeowners’ insurance, document with pictures and make a list of all damages. It is imperative to report estimated cost to your insurance company for the County to determine a state of emergency seeking federal assistance. In addition, it is important to remove all wet items and dry out the space to prevent mold or other bacteria from developing. The Town has guidance available on how to clean up after floods.

The Town has ordered two roll-off dumpsters that will be located at Town Hall beginning at noon on Monday, September 14. Please plan to bring your damaged property to Town Hall to place in the dumpsters. Drop-off will continue at Town Hall on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

We have witnessed neighbors helping neighbors. We are proud that our community has come together in times of extreme challenge. Working together we can continue to be EDMONSTON STRONG.
