Statewide Foam Food Container Ban Takes Effect October 1st

The ban on polystyrene, or commonly known as Styrofoam© was originally supposed to take effect on July 1 after it was passed by the Maryland General Assembly in 2019. The Maryland Department of the Environment delayed implementation of the law in part until Oct. 1 due to the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fortunately for Prince Georgians and County businesses, we have been “Foam Free” since 2016, so there is no change to our operations. For more information on the County ban, click here.
