The mission of the Department of Code Enforcement is to promote and maintain a safe and desirable living and working environment. We help maintain and improve the quality of our community by administering a fair and unbiased enforcement program to correct violations of municipal codes and business license specifications.

Areas of particular concern are:
- Overgrown lots or yards
- Inoperative vehicles
- Illegal signs
- Maintenance of structures
- Operating a business without the proper licenses
- Operating a rental house or renting rooms without a permit
- Failing to obtain building permits
- Public nuisances
Edmonston Code Enforcement Officers are also authorized to enforce parking regulations, as well as the Animal Control ordinances of the town and Prince
George’s County. The Department of Code Enforcement is also responsible for the issuance of Business Licenses and Building Construction Permits.
To apply for a business license, submit a Business License Application along with the required fee for your business type.
