Elections will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026, for the office of Mayor to serve a three-year term and the office of Council Member two (2) for each Ward 1 and 2 to serve a three-year term. Petitions for candidacy may be picked up at Edmonston Town Hall – 5005 52nd Avenue – Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and must be filed with the Town Clerk on or before Friday, April 3, 2026, by 5:00 p.m.

Qualifications for Candidacy for Mayor:

• Must be at least twenty-three (23) years of age
• Must have resided within the corporate limits of the Town for at least one (1) year prior to election day
• Must be a registered voter in the Town of Edmonson for at least one (1) year prior to election day
• Must file a petition with the Town containing the names of at least twenty (20) registered voters of the Town of Edmonston and pay a filing fee of ($10) ten dollars no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026.

Qualifications for Candidacy for Council Member:

• Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age
• Must have resided within the corporate limits of the Town for at least one (1) year prior to election day
• Must be a registered voter in the Town of Edmonston for at least (1) year prior to election day
• Must file a petition containing the names of at least ten (10) registered voters from the ward in which the candidate resides in the Town of Edmonston and pay a filing fee of ten ($10) dollars no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026.

All registered voters are eligible to vote in this upcoming election. If you want to become a registered voter, use the following registration options. Be sure to file on time so that your information is in the PG County/State system for the town’s election.

• You can complete an Online Voter Registration Application provided by the State Board of Elections at Maryland’s Online Voter Registration System (OLVR) , State Board of Elections, or the Prince George’s County Board of Elections
• You can request a voter registration application by phone at 301-341-7300.
• You can pick up an application from Prince George’s County Board of Elections office at 1100 Mercantile Lane, Suite 115A, Largo, MD 20774. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

• Department of Social Services
• Local events within the county

Supplemental Voter Registry

The Town of Edmonston is establishing a Supplemental Voter Registry (eligible non-citizens and formerly incarcerated returning residents) resulting from the enactment of Charter Resolution 2024-CR-01, allowing non-citizen residents and returning individuals who have served a period of incarceration to vote in Town general and special elections. Here are the regulations.

1. Supplemental Voter Registry (eligible non-citizens and formerly incarcerated returning residents)

If you fall into these categories, you will apply for voter registration with the Edmonston Town Clerk at Edmonston Town Hall.

• (not a US citizen but an eligible resident of the Town of Edmonston)
• (eligible to vote in Town election but not registered to vote in a State/National election)

1. Any person qualified to vote in a town election and who is not registered to vote pursuant to the State Universal Registration Act is eligible to register for the Town Supplemental Voter Registry (eligible non-citizens and formerly incarcerated returning residents).
2. Upon satisfaction of the application requirements as set forth in this article, the Town Clerk, or designee, shall register the applicant on the Town Supplemental Registry (eligible non-citizens and formerly incarcerated returning residents) unless otherwise directed by the Board.
3. Application and Procedure.
4. Any qualified person who wishes to be placed on the Town Supplemental Voter Registry (eligible non-citizens and formerly incarcerated returning residents) shall complete and apply to the Board.
5. Each Town Supplemental Voter Registry (eligible non-citizens and formerly incarcerated returning residents) application shall include, and each applicant shall be required to provide:

iI The applicant’s full name; the address of the applicant’s primary residence;

1. A declaration that the applicant meets the qualifications to vote in a Town election as set forth in the Town Charter;

iii. A statement, executed under the penalties of perjury, declaring that all the information included in the application is true to the best of the applicant’s knowledge; and

1. The applicant’s signature.
2. In addition to the statements set forth in Subsection B of this section, applicants are required to show proof of identity, age, and residency within the Town.
